"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Galatians 2:20
Did you catch that last part? "The Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Now it's true that Jesus died for the sins of the world, but he also died for each and every one of us by name. What he did for all of us, he did for each one of us.
Jesus was thinking about you on his last trip to Jerusalem. He rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday because he wanted to be your King. He allowed himself to be arrested and mistreated, condemned and crucified, for you and for your salvation. He died with your name on his lips. He rose again with you on his mind and in his heart.
And nothing has changed. Every day, everywhere you go, his eyes are on you. He loves you. He hears your prayers. He sends his angels to guard you. He pours his Holy Spirit out upon you. He walks with you down the path of life, except for when the going gets tough; then he carries you.
When you read in the Gospels the story of Jesus suffering, death and resurrection, stop and remind yourself that this is personal. Jesus did this for you, and he has no regrets. He loves you that much.
