Friends,
Yesterday we talked about Full Bodied Gospel -- the good news that through Jesus' death and resurrection our sins are forgiven, God's Kingdom has been reestablished on Earth, and there will be a final resurrection of the dead and renewal of creation.
Something to Ponder: What part of Full Bodied Gospel do you need to hear most today? If you are troubled by a sin that you keep repeating, then it would be the forgiveness of sins Jesus made possible. If you have just lost a loved one, then it would the ultimate resurrection of the dead. If you are bothered by the pain and suffering you see in the world, then it would be God's promise to renew the world when his Son comes again.
Something to Pray About: Thank Jesus for the gift of forgiveness and redemption. Ask him to return soon, to resurrect the dead and to return the world to Garden of Eden like perfection.
Something to Put into Action: Someone once asked Martin Luther what he would do today if he knew that Jesus was coming back tomorrow. He thought about it for a minute and then said, "I'd go and plant a tree." Luther understood that even though only God can restore the world, his children have the privilege of performing anticipatory acts, i.e. bumping the world in the right direction. What can you do today to help somebody know that God loves them and has forgiven them through his Son? Along with that, what can you do today to make the world even in some small way a better place? If you can't think of anything, maybe plant a tree.
In Christ,
Pastor Marty
