PEACE CHURCH
PEACE CHURCH
We were never meant to walk alone when going through difficult times. Our Care and Prayer ministries provide support and encouragement through prayer and by coming alongside those who are in need.
CANCER SUPPORT OUTREACH MINISTRY
Team members are cancer survivors or family members who gather to pray for and send encouragement to those who are now walking where they have already trod. Members are available to interact personally with individuals diagnosed with cancer as requested. For information, contact Katherine Richards.
PRAYER MINISTRY
Peace’s Prayer Ministry has a number of options available for your prayer needs: Prayer Ministers are available on an individual basis in the front of the Sanctuary after each Sunday service. During the week, you may contact the Church Office to have prayers listed on the Prayer Page and included during worship services. You may also contact the Peace Prayer Chain Ministry directly 24/7 via e-mail at prayerchain@peachome.org which goes out to over 35 partners in prayer.
PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
Shawls have been made for centuries. Universal and embracing, they are symbolic of an inclusive, unconditionally loving God. They wrap, enfold, comfort, give solace, mother, hug, shelter and beautify. Peace's knitters and crocheters craft these marvelous garments with love and prayers in every stitch. The shawls are blessed by the congregation during worship service. They are then available in the back of the sanctuary for you to give to anyone celebrating a joyous event or in need of a tangible reminder of God's love and comfort. Recipients tell us that they have been uplifted and affirmed, as if given wings to fly above their problems.
Crafters meet monthly at the church for work, fellowship, and prayer. Instruction is also available at these times. You may support the ministry by crafting or with donations of materials or money. For information, contact our church office at 630-627-1101 or office@peacehome.org
BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY
This group serves those suffering a loss. The ministry provides visits, cards, helpful materials and prayers. Contact Gayle Devick through the church office or Pastor Marty Hufford to be part of the team or request ministry for someone.
PEACE PALS
Peace Pals Ministry serves the shut-ins of our congregation. Anyone who finds that their circumstances prevent them from parish worship and activities is eligible for a Pal. A member of Peace is assigned to the shut-in to visit them regularly, once bringing first-hand news of the congregation. They pray, offer hope and cheer, and provide a connection to the love of Jesus. If you know of anyone who would benefit from this outreach or would like to get involved by becoming a Pal, contact Sharon Zimbelmann, team leader, through our church office or Pastor Marty Hufford.
STEPHEN MINISTRY
There are times when everyone of us experiences difficulties. God never intended for us to go through the rough spots alone. Peace offers this confidential ministry of trained listeners who can empower a distressed person to take hold of one's life and grow by facing the challenge. If you or someone you know would benefit from a therapeutic relationship where Christ is the healer, contact Pastor Marty Hufford. If you are interested in learning to be a Stephen Minister, contact Cheryl Esmail through our church office.
