Friends,
Yesterday we talked about slavery to sin and being set free through Jesus.
Something to Ponder: What sin tries to master you? Put another way, what's your weakness? Many of us feel enslaved to one sin or another. No matter how strong our resistance or how hard we pray, we lose the battle and sin wins more often that not. How about you? Is there a sin you would like to escape?
Something to Pray About: Ask Jesus to set you free. By his death and resurrection he already has, and by faith in his name the shackles fall off. But even as free children of God, it's hard not to return to the only life we have ever known, a life of slavery to sin. Ask the Lord to make your freedom in him more real to you than the habits of sin. Ask him for help.
Something to Put Into Action: The next time your weakness cracks the whip and commands you obedience, picture it as chains around your hands and feet. Then picture Jesus breaking those chains and setting you free. Tell Jesus thank you, and tell your old master to go bother someone else. Then have a nice day.
In Christ,
Pastor Marty
