Mondays with Marty 7/8/18

Friends,

God bless you!  Yesterday we talked about authority, about those who want it too much, about those who misuse it and those who don't know how to handle it.  Then we moved on to the good news, that no one has ever had more authority than our Lord Jesus Christ.  He taught with authority, acted with authority, and even had the authority to lay down his life for the sins of the word and take it back up again.  Jesus has the authority to forgive our sins.  This gives our lives hope.

Something to Ponder: What do you think of when you hear the word authority?  Is it a neutral word for you, or a word loaded with emotion, either good or bad?  How have you handled authority when you've had it?

Something to Pray About: Ask Jesus to forgive you for any way you have misused authority, and ask him to help you forgive anyone who has used their authority to hurt you.  Thank Jesus that he has the authority to forgive us all.

Something to Put into Action: If you are in a position of authority, spend some time thinking about how you use it.  Jesus always and only used his authority to help others.  Would that describe you?  What changes do you need to make?  Ask  him to help you with that.

In Christ,

Pastor Marty
